Voice Actor

What is your home recording set-up?

I work from a purpose built Acousticase™  recording studio.

Tech specifications include:

  • Rode NT1-A microphone
  • Scarlett Focusrite 3rd Gen audio interface
  • Macbook Air (2023) with Reaper DAW
  • Source Connect standard (for live directing sessions; also Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams & Google Meet)
  • Ability to deliver de-breathed and fully mastered audio in wav or mp3 format

What do you charge for voiceovers?

There are several variables, for example:

  • How long is the text? (word count is important)
  • Where will it appear? (e.g. company website/presentation/social media/paid or unpaid advertising/tv/radio)
  • What are the licensing requirements?
  • How long will it be appearing for? (weeks/months/in perpetuity)

Once I have an idea of these, I can give you a realistic quote.

Please note that my BSF (basic studio fee) starts from £250 for an hour of studio time (either in my home studio or an outside studio). Licensing use is added to this fee. A useful reference point is the  ‘Gravy for the Brain’ rate card.

Do let me know if you are working to a tight budget; I like to be able to to help as many clients as possible!

What are your payment terms?

I will send an invoice at the same time as your audio files, or soon afterwards.

Generally, payment should be sent on receipt of my invoice, but I understand that some companies send payment on a monthly basis. You should let me know at the hiring stage if payment is likely to be delayed for any reason.

I prefer payment via BACS or international bank transfer. Please note I am not liable for any fees. For clients who prefer payment via PayPal, I add a 6% charge to cover fees deducted.

How quickly will my voiceover be produced?

Usually within 24 hours. In some cases I can offer a same-day service for up to 5 minutes of voiceover, though this may vary depending on my current workload. Please always mention when you get in touch if there is likely to be a tight deadline.

Can I ‘listen in’ or live-direct the session, or even record the session from another studio?

Yes, you can! I have Source Connect Standard or Source Connect Now which allows you to listen in cleanly, or record the session at your end if you prefer. Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet are also effective ways to listen to the session live.
